Heron Birthday Card

This is a Birthday card I made for my Son-in-Law, Peter. He is quite the outdoor enthusiast so I thought this would be a great stamp for a card for him. I saw the stamp on a card on SCS. The womans did her card in soot stamping. This is done with a resist technique and distress inks. I used coordinations paper. Happy Birthday Peter!

I used the new Spellbinders A-2 matting set. I must say I really enjoy just picking colors and cutting just once with the dies instead of cutting several times to get the proportions right.  The stamp is from Impression Obsession.

Close up of the heron.

Fall Cards

We had another fun Stampin Up night at Sunny's house last night.   These are great fall cards. I plan to send the one with the leaves to my Mom in New Mexico. There was a third card however when I took the picture I realized I taped it upside down...how silly!  Thanks again Sunny!!

I love the die cut with the phrase showing. It makes the inside of your card for you.

This is the new embossing folder from SU. We used coordinations paper and sanded it.

The branches are from the SU bird punch (so many uses!) I love the way she constructed the wreath with yarn.

Spoiler Alert!! This is my calendar page for December!

I really like the way this turned out so I am posting it early. We have a family/friends (who are like family) calendar swap every year. My daughter does the calendar part and sends out our month assignments. It measures 7 X 5 and we place them in the stand up acrylic frames you buy a JoAnns. Each person makes an ATC to place beside the calendar for that month. This is not quite an ATC because of the shape and dimensions but I couldn't resist. I have had this cardinal stamp for a gazillion years unmounted and was waiting for something perfect to use it on.

The pine branches are a punch by Martha Stewart. I used a Spellbinder die for the highlighted area.

W is for Women

This was also a fun theme. I went for vintage (surprise, surprise).

Sunny. Love the perfume bottles with the highlight

Jerri. Just two friend having tea...coffee + goodies. Fun!

Gretchen. Great saying!

Deb. I think this is a new SU shoe, love the embossing

Me. I have no idea where I got the "fe-Mail" stamp as I unmounted it. The paper is graphic 45 I think with a woman's face stamp from Invoke.

Rolodex U is for universe

Here are the U rolodex cards. I don't remember if I posted my individual creations previously...have to forgive my memory! I really liked this theme as I have always been enamored with the stars...moons... really anything celestial. Great work everyone.

Happy Halloween

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!  I have been very far behind in my Halloween cards this year. I did get these done and sent to my kiddos just in time.  I have never used this SU set, I don't know why because it is cute. It also was a chance to use up some old paper I had as well.  I used my vagabond and dies for the circles. I used my watercolor pencils to color the images. I am not proficient with markers and I like the subtle look of the water color.

The googly eyes have been sitting in a drawer for a long time as well. I thought they made the flowers extra creepy!

Follow up to the homemade noodles

Well....they actually were not so yummy after sitting over night...more like bloated sacks of gluten. Oh Well!

Halloween Cupcakes

I got inspired and decided to make cupcakes for work for Halloween. I won't actually be there for the holiday as Wednesday is my day off. I can't remember ever making cupcakes from scratch...yes its true...no box!  The tombstone are vanilla and the bats are chocolate. Both have buttercreme frosting.  I dug out my old cookie press as well. These were fun to make and Jeff got the "ruined" ones and said they were good. Well...how can butter and sugar be bad! LOL

The white things are bone shaped candy which you can see better in the following picture. Sorry they are slightly blurry. It was a long evening.

Fall wreath for Mom

I haven't made a wreath in a while so I decided to make one for my Mom to brighten up her room.  Halloween would be way past by the time she got her package so I made a fall theme which would last her until Christmas!

The flowers are felt cut with Tim Holtz tattered flowers and leaves. The covering is actually more of a "tape" like yarn which made this go really fast!

Homemade noodles

Well this was sure an experiment. Homemade egg noodles. We added them to chicken noodle soup. They turned out REALLY FAT!! I kept trying to roll them thinner but they kept springing back. I was afraid the noodles would be like rubber bands from over working the dough so I let them be fat this time.  However they did taste very yummy. The recipe I used suggested letting them dry for 4 hours however several other recipes did not require the drying time.

I do have a pasta machine however....I use it for FIMO!! So if I decide to make this a habit pasta machines are pretty reasonable in price. I guess I will see...

I used a metal dish drainer I had to hang the pasta.

Beaded Snowflakes

I made myself one of these last year and hung it on my window. I decided I better use up the rest of the wire foundations and made several more. Then....I had a great idea to add the crystal to the center. I like them much better now! Blue, purple or copper. My favorite is the blue.

New Card

This card is made with a couple of new punches that I really like. The first is the new SU butterfly and the second is a Martha edger punch. The inspiration for this card comes from www.dahliamemories.blogspot.com. She did an all white card with her card with a splash of color. Very elegant. I have to have color though....well because I have so much paper it is a shame not to use it!

The embossing folder is a new cuttlebug folder. The paper pack is retired from SU. The metal embellishments are from we are memory keepers. Below is the inside with the border of butterflies.

T is for tree rolodex swap

I admit I have a real passion for trees. I am always looking at the different trees in yards etc.  My husband laughs when I say "I want a tree like that" because even though we live in the woods we already have quite a number of  "not native" trees all around our house.

I really love this stamp. It is by A Stamp in the Hand. It is also still mounted which is not usual for me. I first saw this on a card by a friend, Laura Lok and of course I went on a quest to find it.

Sunny...very soft and calming!

Gretchen, also love the soft colors

Jerri did this rolodex, This is an old SU set which I used to use a lot. HMMM need to dig that out and play!

Deb...the paper on this is beautiful. I don't think it photographed well enough but there is a beautiful gold luster on the lantern.
I finished my U for universe and V for vegies. Wow only 4 more to go. My two years seemed like quite a commitment at the start but it has flown by and I will be sorry to see it end...can we make up some more letters for the alphabet??

Rolodex Swap S

S is for snowman is this months rolodex. While I am not ready to have real snowpeople yet....These are really adorable.

This is my snowperson. This is a penguin pants design and I admit one of my favorite sets.

Jerri made this cutie! I have a real halloween ornament that is a smores devil. Kinda funny when you think about it....a marshmellow devil?

Sunny made this rolodex.
