Nostalgic Card

I like vintage, nostalgic, retro, grunge, steampunk etc......(whatever you want to call it). I bought a bunch of paper bags last year and they were staring at me from the shelf.  I was still on a flower kick so I made this flower card from inspiration from that same card magazine.  By the way....I got a whole years worth of magazines for $27.00 including shipping on EBay. They usually run $14.95 each.  The inspiration card was made by:  Audry Pettit.  audreypettit.wordpress.com

I stamped the first layer ith the screen background stamp from SU. The flower is paper bags sprayed with Perfect Pearls Mist: Sunflowe sparkle. The sentiment is from SU Pettite Pairs.

These embellishments are from Tim Holtz.  I scuffed them up alittle and pounded on the brad with the texture hammer.

Folded Flower Tutorial

I put a few pictures together in case you wanted to know how these are made and don't have the specific magazine.

Start with five punches. I used a scallop punch as I liked the ruffled edge better than the plain edge of the circle.  Whatever size flower you want, pick that size punch as you will use one of the punches as a base.

Fold in 1/2 then in 1/4

I used a tape runner to attach the folded pieces to the base. Don't get crazy about matching the edges...it really doesn't matter if they are a bit off...you will never know.

This is the flower all folded. You can add a brad etc or another smaller punched scallop or......
The magazine instructions stopped here. I added my own twist.

I folded the top one more time in 1/2.  I like the added pinwheel look. It is more 3 dimensional. They are pretty the other way too.  So pick out some scraps and start punching and folding.  (you will be surprised at what you find in your scraps....did I really like that paper???)  LOL

Folded Flower Cards

I found this technique in the "CARDS" magazine July 2011.  This is a fun way to use up scraps. I challenged myself to make a card with each flower I made. This was hard for me as I just grabbed some paper out of he scrap heap.  Some of the scraps were not colors I necessarily enjoy working with however that was the task at hand.  See what you think. I added my own tweek in the final folding.

Here is the group of cards all together. Quite a diverse color pallet.

The punch is a Martha Steward punch, I tend to use this one often. The sentiment is a new SU Sale-a-bration set. I got this group of elegant brads at Hobby Lobby.

This a an old piece of wrapping paper (I think). I never use stickers(don't know why I have a bazillion)  but with the embossed background I couldn't stamp on in and another tag etc. looked too crowded.

This paper is really really old SU paper. I am not too fond of it but I think it works with this card.

I love this Penguin Pants Birthday set "Make a Wish"

Bathtub transformation

We no longer have a "blue" bathroom. When we moved into our house in 1984 it was brand new. I never liked the blue however....well....it was brand new. So I have lived with blue all these years. Well no more! The last blue is now gone....what do you think?

Now just a few touch up things and we are done!  Jeff is looking forward to Spring and gardening so he doesn't have to do any more projects!  LOL

Dream Big

The pattern for this card comes from "As the Ink Dries" blog and was created by Gail Kaisaki. You can view it here http://www.sharonburkert.com/.a/6a00e553eebfa78834016761724624970b-pi.  This is my interpretation.  I used a very old stampin up set that I am ashamed to say had never been used.  I don't know why...I really like the sayings in this set and the simple flower.  I am trying to work on the inside of my cards...rather than just blank or a saying.....

I used a cuttlebug embossing folder on the top and the new SU dies for the centerpiece. The paper is from K & Co.

Sparkly with room on the side for writing your personal note.

Valentine

Well..it is the red and pink holiday ( as my kids used to say). I have been looking a easel cards lately. I like the 3 dimensional effect with the ability to mail it in a regular envy!
I used the new SU doily die cut for the white. The bird is an inkadinka do stamp.

This is last years valentine love stamp.

Shower Tile

Almost done...need to get a few extra edge tiles then I can grout.

This is a close up of the accent tile

All the accent tiles are slightly different. I think it really breaks up all the white!
